The ACES job shadow program provides students with the opportunity to learn about professional opportunities within their discipline. Students will be introduced to potential career paths and observe a "day-in-the-life" of a professional in the field. The ACES job shadow program is open to all students within the College; however, Freshmen and Sophomores are especially encouraged to apply.
Job shadowing experiences are being provided by employers that regularly hire ACES graduates for intern and full-time positions and ACES alumni choosing to be part of the program. The date of the actual job shadow is determined by the employer or alumni providing the experience. The date of the experience will likely be during winter break and be listed in the job shadow posting. Students are responsible for any transportation, lodging, or other costs associated with participating in the program.
Searching Available Job Shadows
Use your Illini NACElink account to search available job shadow opportunities.
- Login (or register if you do not have a NACElink account) and then select "Search Positions and Interviews" from the top menu.
- Select "Job Shadow Listings" from the "Show me" drop-down menu.
- Read the description about the opportunity. Submit your resume to the opportunities that are of interest to you by selecting "Submit" on the right-hand side of the posting.
Job Shadow Matches
Employers/alumni will review the resumes that are submitted and select students for their job shadowing experience. Students will be notified of their match in early December 5.
Training
Students participating in the job shadow program are strongly encourage to attend a one-hour training session on December 10, 11:30 am, in the Morgan Room, 130 ACES Library. The training will help students ensure that they get the most out of their job shadow experience. Lunch will be provided.
